BHAF

If you've been around trucks for long enough you will start to hear people talk about BHAFs, which stands for big honkin' air filter. No this is definitely not a brand of air filter but rather the name given to jerry rigged air filters.

Buying a new air intake system is very important if you are planning on making large amounts of power with your truck. The stock intakes simply do not allow enough air to get in the turbo when lots of horse power is being made. There are many companies that make cold air induction set ups that solve this problem and free up the air. However, for some of us, paying around $300 for a air intake just doesn't make much sense... Yes there is an alternative. There are thousands of semis on the road, each one with an air filter that would dwarf even the best air intake replacement kit. Yes, with a little effort you can utilize one of these huge air filters on your own diesel pick up... Thus the birth of the big honkin' air filter.

There are a number of different filters that work great, some better than others of course. I just got through installing an extremely large BHAF on my truck. I definitely feel like i am getting more for my money than if I had purchased a $300 air in take system seeing as my setup cost less than half of that. My buddy took a bunch of pictures while we were at work so I will be posting instructions with photos as soon as he sends them to me.

Welcome

I love diesel trucks. My normal blog was beginning to have a few too many truck posts which I understand is not that interesting to those readers of the female persuasion. So I'm starting a truck blog. I will be discussing trucks and posting all kinds of things about trucks.

Only one ground rule: we respect all brands. There will be no trash talk. I would rather own a truck of any brand before buying a sedan... most truck enthusiasts would agree... So lets keep a friendly spirit here.
